Mr. Helms received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio State University. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
Mr. Helms’ practice involves intellectual property matters, including licensing, patent validity and infringement opinions, and the preparation and prosecution of patents, trademarks and copyrights. He has prosecuted over 600 patents in a wide variety of mechanical arts including coal mining equipment, air compressors, agricultural equipment, automotive interior systems, air bags, antilock braking and traction control systems, electrical connectors, automotive power train components, medical implants and instruments.
His professional experience prior to joining the firm of Warn Partners includes patent positions at the firm of Dykema Gosset, General Motors, International Truck & Engine and Joy Manufacturing.
